Privacy Policy

The short version

ReliaStats is operated by ChiAha, Inc. (Tennessee). This site collects only the minimum needed to run its public surface, process newsletter/contact signups, and prevent abuse. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, and we do not use your inputs to train AI models.

1. What we collect

Information you give us directly when you fill out a contact, signup, or "join our list" form on ReliaStats:

• Name (first and/or last)
• Work email address
• Company / organization (when supplied)
• Job title (when supplied)
• Any free-text message or note you choose to add

Information automatically collected as you browse:

• Standard server logs: IP address, browser user-agent, referrer, the pages you visited, and the time of each visit.
• Analytics events from Google Tag Manager (container GTM-NL7VDMTV) and Google Analytics 4 (property 433243670). Aggregate page-view and event data.
• LinkedIn Insight Tag (partner ID 6488196) for measuring effectiveness of any paid advertising we may run on LinkedIn.

2. What we do NOT collect

• Payment card numbers. If you purchase a paid ChiAha product, FastSpring handles the payment and sends us a transaction summary; we never see your card.
• The contents of business data you use inside ChiAha desktop products. Those products are local-first — your network/simulation/model data stays on your machine.
• Anything we don't list above.

3. How we use what we collect

• Respond to you. Form submissions notify our team via Slack so the right person follows up.
• Provide the products and services you have requested or purchased.
• Operate and improve the site — diagnose problems, measure traffic, prioritize content.
• Send marketing communications — only if you opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and do not share it with third parties for their own independent advertising or commercial use.

4. Service providers

Each is contractually bound (by their standard data-processing terms) to use the information only on our behalf.

5. AI model training

We do not use your inputs to train AI models. Conversational features on ChiAha sites that route through external LLM APIs (e.g. Anthropic's Claude) operate under those vendors' standard API terms, which preserve your inputs for the duration of the call and do not retain them for training purposes.

6. Cookies

• Strictly necessary — keeping you signed in (session cookie), remembering form state, basic security.
• Analytics — Google Analytics measurement cookies, set via Google Tag Manager.
• Advertising effectiveness — LinkedIn Insight Tag cookie.

You can clear cookies any time from your browser settings. Most browsers offer a "do not track" or "global privacy control" signal that we honor where technically feasible.

Your choice

Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization are disabled by default for every visitor, in every country. We build no retargeting audiences from your visit.

Analytics cookies are handled by region. If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we set no analytics cookie until you choose Accept on the notice at the bottom of the page. Choose Reject and we record only an anonymous, cookieless page count that cannot be linked to you or to any later visit. Either answer is stored in a single strictly-necessary cookie (chiaha_consent) for twelve months, and you can change it at any time using the Privacy settings link in the footer of any page.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we detect it and disable analytics cookies automatically, without asking you.

7. Retention

• Form submissions are retained in our own contact database, which we host on Fly.io, for as long as you remain a contact in our system, typically until you unsubscribe and we delete the record.
• Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational and security purposes.
• Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics 4 default settings (26 months for event data) unless we change them.

8. Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights: access, correction, deletion, portability, opt-out of marketing (unsubscribe link in every email), and opt-out of sale/share for advertising (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising). California: CCPA/CPRA rights apply. EEA/UK: GDPR rights apply.

9. Children's privacy

The ReliaStats site and ChiAha products are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent edit.
